Edmund F. Flick Obituary
Edmund F. Flick

York - Edmund F. Flick at 94 years of age, went peacefully to the Lord on June 12 after fighting the good fight with heart disease. Ironic that his heart was the best and biggest part of Ed as anyone who had the pleasure of knowing him, can attest.

Ed was born March 8, 1924 in Lancaster to Frank and Charlotte Flick and adored his sister, Virginia, and brother-in-law, Richard Abel.

He married the love of his life in Helen Frey in 1948 and they were true partners in life for 63 long and joyous years. Together they provided a home and loving environment for their six children and they welcomed spouses into the family as one of their own. Fortunately, they were blessed with Jeffrey (Diane), Linda (William), Steven (Donna), Barbara (Gregory), Gregory (Christine), Amy (John); and a deceased son-in-law, Brian. Then as if six children were not enough, the family kept growing to include 18 grandchildren. Ed celebrated the life of every grandchild as he made each grandchild feel "Special". He was known to them as GP, Our Lori, Lisa, Jason, Wolfgang and Gretchen (deceased), Wesley, Matt, Chris, Meghan, John, Jeff, Jenna, Jennifer, Brian, Katelyn, Ally, Chad, Blake. And the family continued to grow...giving him the new name of GGP (Great GP) for 13 great-grandchildren...Haden, Adam, Mason, Kylie, Cole, Tyler, Lukas, Thea, Rowan, Celia, Landon, Trey and Avery.

Ed was proud to be a Franklin and Marshall College graduate after serving in the U.S. Navy as an aviation specialist in World War II. He was proud to serve his country and he was also a highly successful industrial sales representative for Glidden paint throughout his working years. You could always find Ed serving many civic and faith organizations in his lifetime, forever just giving of himself with joy and a light heart.

Ed will be the first to credit his deceased (2011) wife's, Helen's abilities to raise a loving family. He always said...she was my rock...she kept me in line. Helen was greatly missed as his wife, but life did not stop for Ed. He continued to live his life at Country Meadows, being a blessing to his new friends. hosting "Poker with Ed" and continuing his affiliation at the Outdoor Country Club as a member of 50 years. Even though he could no longer play his sports of golf and tennis, he maintained those relationships.

He will be remembered as a role-model to his family, a reliable friend, and a man of faith.

Memorial services for Ed flick will be held on Saturday, June 16 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 2935 Kingston Rd., East York, PA 17402. Visitation service will begin at 9 a.m. with Mass at 10 a.m. A reception and the celebration of Ed's life will commence immediately after the mass.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to York Catholic high school.
