Edward James Boner Obituary
Edward James Boner

- - Edward James Boner, 71, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 5, 2018. He was surrounded by those who loved him in his final days at Dallastown Nursing Center. Ed was born on January 29, 1947 in Allentown, PA to the late Edward L. and Margaret K. Boner. He was a 1964 graduate of William Allen High School, a 1968 graduate of Kutztown University, and later earned his M.B.A. from Temple University. A star basketball player in high school and in college, Ed had many stories to share about his school days and teammates. Ed was a pharmaceutical salesman for over 40 years including working for Sandoz, Genentech, and Johnson & Johnson. He also owned his own business selling medical electronic equipment during the 1980s. Prior to working in the medical industry, he was a sixth grade teacher in York Suburban School District.

Ed loved sailing his boat "The Leprechaun" on the Chesapeake Bay, reading, watching his favorite movies and shows, going on cruises, and eating delicious food! He volunteered for a short time at the York County Literacy Council and at Asbury United Methodist Church as a reading tutor. Above all else, Ed loved his family. He worked hard his entire life to provide for his wife, daughters, and grandchildren. He was generous with encouragement, humor, and wisdom. Those people fortunate enough to have felt his love will miss it sorely because it was unconditional and absolute.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Margaret (Clough) Boner; daughters Susan (Boner) Saxton, Jennifer (Boner) Fuller, and Andrea (Boner) Pastel; sons-in-law Gregg Saxton, Hans Fuller, and Teague Pastel; and his nine grandchildren Delaney, Aidan, Jack, Calvin, Zane, Andersen, Natalie, Maxwell, and Henry. He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law Jim and Susan Boner and their family.

A private Celebration of Life ceremony will be held at the family home to honor his memory. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Ed's name to: York County Literacy Council, 800 East King Street, York, PA 17403 or at yorkliteracy.org.
