Ernest E. Waltemyer

York - Ernest E. Waltemyer, 90, entered into rest on May 9, 2018, at 5:58 p.m. at York Hospital, surrounded by his loving family members. Born on September 18, 1927, he was the son of the late Lloyd M. and Mary E. (Leiby) Waltemyer. Ernie worked at AMF, Bendix Corporation, and retired from York Tool Warehouse. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving in WWll. He was a member of the Hawks Gunning Club and Pleasureville American Legion Post #799.

Besides his loving companion of 20 years, Minnie Dugan; he is survived by son, Larry and Karen (Shanabrough) Waltemyer; daughter, Tina and Mike Snell; son, Jon and Barbara (Shank) Waltemyer; six grandchildren, Todd Waltemyer, Kacey Hinkle, Christopher Snell, Andy Snell, Stacey Roache and Bradley Waltemyer and their spouses; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandson; a brother, Charles Waltemyer; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ernest was preceded in death by Amelia (Wallick) Waltemyer, to whom he was married for 37 years before her death in 1986. He was also preceded in death by brothers, James and George Waltemyer; and sisters, Katherine Williamson and Mildred Grezinski.

Our family would like to thank Sharon, Alan, and the entire Beshore family for their loving kindness. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 23, 2018, at Pleasureville United Methodist Church, 2606 N. Sherman St., York, PA 17406 with the Rev. Frank Miller officiating. Military honors by the York County Veteran Honors Guard will start the service at 11 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Northeastern Senior Community Center, PO Box 386, Mt. Wolf, PA 17347 or to Pleasureville American Legion, Post 799, 2590 Willow St., York, PA 17406.
