Dr. Gerald Ira Gingrich

- - Rev. Dr. Gerald Ira Gingrich, 89, went home to be with the Lord on July 3rd at York Hospital. Dr. Gingrich served as the Director of the Family Life Institute for the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Pennsylvania. He served as the Director of Health Education at Lankenau Hospital, Overbrook, PA. He also served as the Director of the Pastoral Care Institute in Camp Hill, PA which had 5 counseling centers. He was Director of Health and Service Ministries with the American Baptist Home Missions Society, Valley Forge, PA. This national agency provided services to several hospitals, 36 nursing homes, and 120 institutional chaplains in hospitals, retirement homes, prisons and rehab centers.

He was able to visit federal prisons in all but one state as part of the Presidents Chaplains Program in Federal Prisons. He served as adjunct faculty at Beaver College, St. Joseph's University, Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary, St. Charles Boromeo Seminary, Eastern University, Cabrini and 24 years at York College. He had a B.A. from Wheaton College in Illinois, Bachelors of Divinity, Masters of Theology, Masters of Arts and Christian Education and Doctor of Theology (Th.D.) from Northern Baptist Theological Seminary. He traveled the world in his work with the American Baptist Churches U.S.A. having such wonderful experiences as having communion with Mother Teresa. He earned well over 1 million air miles traveling with United Airlines and served countless churches across the country and was currently serving the Carpenters Workshop Fellowship in Seven Valleys with his wife Rev. Dr. Kay Gingrich. He is survived by his wife, 3 children and 4 grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 21, 2018, 11:00 am, at Carpenters Workshop Fellowship, 57 Church Street, Seven Valleys, PA 17360. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Carpenters Workshop Fellowship. Arrangements by Cremation Society of Pennsylvania, Inc.
