I deeply mourn Greg's death, and his loss to his family and friends. When Greg lived in Scenic Hills, I was he Cub Scout Den mother. At a young age, he was the perfect example of good behavior, a leader, and the son every mother wanted. My son Jemal, his fellow classmate and Cub Scout remembers Greg as a great person, and the most even-tempered and polite person one could ever expect to meet. For Greg, it can only be praise.

After seeing Greg's twitter entries it becomes obvious what an outstanding person he was. He was so in love with his family. He valued his friends. He had tons of fans which he appreciated. His dad became my favorite driver as a teen at Riverside Speedway. Always me and my buds down in the pits hanging out and helping when possible. Greg was the next generation and carried on his dad's legacy in PA. I ask God to comfort all affected and for them to keep the faith as Greg did.

God bless the Hodnett family! I can hear our town's church bells ringing through the steady rain and I think of you all. Racing IS family. it has much more to do with relationships than cars. Greg lived it. You have run your race and claimed the ultimate checkered flag. A celebration of life, indeed! Go easy, Greg.

I remember telling Greg in the pits at the Grove when he first started racing here in PA, that it was a pleasure to have him racing locally. I never changed my opinion about that. I never heard anyone say a bad thing about Greg over all of those years! He made you feel like he knew you all of his life when he talked to you. He was Loved and Greatly respected by many. He was as Great a Driver as he was an individual! He will be greatly missed, but NEVER forgotten. Stay Strong in these tuff times Sherry! Greg will always be watching over you and your Family. Until we meet again....RIP Greg!

God Speed Greg and all our families heartfelt prayers to Sherry and the entire Hodnett family. Greg had a unique way of making people like me that were nothing more then random race fans feel as though we were friends since grade school. He was very special. He offered me a drink from the cooler in his trailer one time at Hagerstown Speedway. He called me brave for wearing HIS shirt in Lance Dewease territory. He was like no other racer I ever met and talked to in my years of strolling through the pits. The sport is definitely at a loss and he will be sincerely missed.
