Bowman YORK Jacqueline (Gower) Bowman, 82, passed away Saturday, May 4, 2013, at York Hospital. She was the wife of the late John D. Bowman, Jr. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at the convenience of the family. Private burial will be in Mt. Rose Cemetery. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York is in charge of arrangements. Born November 22, 1930, in Sunbury, a daughter of the late Jenny E. (Fisher) and George A. Gower, Jr., she was a 1948 graduate of Selinsgrove High School and graduated from St. Luke's School of Nursing in New York City as a Registered Nurse. Mrs. Bowman had worked at Methodist Hospital in Peoria, IL, Holy Cross Hospital in Silver Spring, Md., York Hospital, and The Brunswick at Longstown. She was a member of Harrisburg Forest 43, Tall Cedars of Lebanon Cedarettes; Ladies Auxiliary for both Military Order of Purple Heart and Marine Corps League; and the White Rose Square Dance Club. Jacqueline was also an avid bingo player, reader, and enjoyed traveling and taking cruises. Mrs. Bowman is survived by three daughters, Elizabeth F. and husband Jerard Brune of Naperville, IL, M. Jo Bowman-Ruth of Manchester, and Jill A. and husband Maurice Manifold of New Park; four grandchildren, Heather J. Russo, Holly J. Brune, John B. Bowman, IV, and James A. Bowman; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Emily E. McCleary; and a brother, George A. Gower, III. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Margaret Moul Foundation, 2050 Barley Rd., York, PA 17408; or to York Suburban Middle School, c/o Emma Bear Fund, 455 Sundale Dr., York, PA 17402.
