James L. Parsons IV

Manchester Twp. - James L. Parsons IV, age 73, of Manchester Township, York, died Friday, November 30, 2018, at Kindred Hospital in South Philadelphia. He was the husband of Eileen "Judy" (Anderson) Parsons.

Born August 13, 1945 in Wilmington, Delaware, the son of the late James L. Parsons III, and the late Lavina Lee (Zabel) Parsons, he was a graduate of Syracuse University, where he earned his Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration. He was retired as a Logistics Manager for Total Logistic Control, and prior to that had worked in the same capacity for the DuPont Company.

As a US Marine he served as the Concertmaster of The Quantico Marine Corps Band, Quantico, Va. He was a lifelong singer and clarinetist in community bands and ensembles, most recently the Emigsville Concert Band. He will be remembered as an avid sailor and fisherman, a beloved brother, father, and husband.

In addition to his wife of 50 years, Mr. Parsons is survived by a son, James L. Parsons V, of Brooklyn, New York; and two sisters, Barbara P. Whitson, of Earlesville, Maryland, and Janet P. Keeter, of Pawleys Island, South Carolina. He was also preceded in death by a son, Timothy A. Parsons.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Friday, December 14, 2018, at Kuhner Associates Funeral Directors, Inc., 863 South George Street, York, with The Rev. Bonnie Whittier officiating. Visitation will follow the service, with flag presentation by the York County Veterans Honor Guard.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, 1426 North 3rd Street, Harrisburg PA 17102; or to Gift of Life, 401 North 3rd Street, Philadelphia PA 19123.
