Phyllis A. Quigley

York - Phyllis A. (Shepkosky) Quigley, 86, entered the choir of the heavenly angels on Thursday April 1, 2021. She was the wife of the late John G. Quigley, Sr.

She was born November 1, 1934 in Shamokin, PA. The daughter of the late Joseph and Anna (Shastay) Shepkosky.

Phyllis was a 1954 graduate of St Hubert Catholic High School in Philadelphia, PA. She was employed as an Administrative Assistant in the Commissioners Office in the County of York. She was also was an Administrative Assistant for the Honorable Penny L. Blackwell. She was one of the original committee members of the Saint Patrick's Parade and 250th Celebration of York.

Her love of music, singing and playing the piano enveloped her entire life.

She was a member of St. Joseph Church in York and was Choir Director for over 20 years. She was an Assistant Band Director and Costumer for the Spring Musicals at York Catholic High School . She was the Rehearsal Pianist for Susquehannock Theatre Department. She performed in numerous musicals at York Little Theatre.

She is survived by her children: son John Quigley, Jr. and wife Harriett Hawkins their son Julian; son Timothy Quigley and wife Karen their sons Jonathan Quigley and Maj. Michael Quigley and wife Ruth their children Lillian, Bridgette, Eleanor, Georganna; daughter Eileen Saylor and her late husband Robert their daughter Kristina Schiffgens and her children Grace and Julianna, son Kevin Saylor and wife Casey; daughter the late Phyllis Shewell and her son Nathaniel Shewell and husband Tyler Niner, daughter Ann Seifert and husband Daniel their sons Samuael Speros and Spec. Benjamin Speros; and son Christopher Quigley

She was preceded in death by a brother Leonard Shepkosky.

A visitation will be 9:30-10:30am Saturday April 10, 2021 at St. Joseph Church 2935 Kingston Rd. York with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10:30 am with the Rev. Rigo Azanwi OFM, Cap. officiating. Burial will be in Holy Saviour Cemetery. The John W. Keffer Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 902 Mt. Rose Ave. York is assisting with arrangements.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Belmont Theatre 27 S. Belmont St. York, PA 17403 and York Catholic High School, 601 E. Springettsbury Ave., York, PA 17403.

Phyllis was a great person. Always happy and full of fun. There are many wonderful band stories that come to mind when I think of her and my late husband Al Johnson. We sure did have a lot of great times with the YC band.

Chris and family, John and I are so sorry to read about Phyllis’s passing. She was such a sweet, sweet lady.
Keeping you and the family in our thoughts and prayers. So glad we got to see her again on the cruise last year and spend some time with her.
