DOVER Sandra L. (Boster) Vorse passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, February 11, 2013, after a valiant two-year battle with cancer. Sandy was born in Chambersburg, on December 9, 1942, to the late Rubin and Margaret (Cook) Boster. In addition to her husband of 45 years, Stewart Vorse, Sandy is survived by her two sons, Craig of Fort Worth, Texas, and Matthew of Blandon and his wife Kristy; four grandchildren, Ashley and Brandon Vorse in Texas and Kyle and Alexa Vorse in Blandon; a brother, David Boster of Langhorne; a sister, Patsy Woolf of Harrisburg. Sandy was also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews. Sandy was raised in the Harrisburg area and graduated from Susquehanna Twp. High School in 1960, where she was not only an outstanding student, but also active in extra-curricular activities. She was captain of the cheerleading squad, captain of the girls' basketball team, and played major parts in the school's drama productions. After high school, Sandy worked for various companies, and finished her career with retirement from York Hospital after 22 years of service. Sandy was a wonderful mother, and an especially loving and kind grandmother. She was a friend to all, a caring sister, and will be sorely missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her. Funeral services will be on Friday at 11 a.m. at Mt. Moriah Cemetery, Jonestown Road and Strouse Alley, Harrisburg. The Hetrick-Bitner Funeral Home, Harrisburg, is honored to handle arrangements. Memorial contributions are encouraged, in Sandy's name to Homeland Hospice, 2300 Vartan Way, Harrisburg, PA 17110. To offer the family condolences, please visit www.HetrickBitner.com

I worked with Sandy for many years at the hospital. She was such a beautiful person with a heart of gold. She talked nonstop about her children and her husband; she loved them so much and was so proud of them all. She taught me so many things in life, both work-related as well as personally. Sandy is a very special lady and I am so blessed to have been her friend. She is a definite angel and she will forever be an angel watching down on each and every one of us. God Bless you Sandy

Dear Patsy, Dennis, Stu and all of Sandy's Family,
I was so sorry to hear the news. I have such wonderful memories of Sandy in our days at STHS. I hadn't seen her for many years as I have not been back to Hbg very much in the last years, but I am sure that her wonderful spirit is alive and well now as much as ever, just in a new form that we can't see in the usual way. I am sorry not be able to be at the service but want you to know that my thoughts and prayers are with you.

We (Jim, Judy, Julie and Jennifer Moretz) spent countless New Year's Eve celebrations with Sandy, Stu, Craig and Matthew. There isn't a NYE that goes by that I don't think about one of them. Sandy and Stu were great lifelong friends to my parents. She will always be in my thoughts and prayers.

There are not enough words to express the emotion and grief that we have at times like this. Sandy was such a dear friend who always laughed and enjoyed life. Being with her was a joy. The memories of Sandy, especially the ones we enjoyed in school, will always be special. She will be Gidget forever, our Gidget. Sandy we loved you so much.
Our condolences to Sandy's family, especially to Stu and the children, and to Patsy her sister, who was her closest friend until the last. We will miss her joy and her friendship.
