DILLSBURG Morgan Christopher Hughes, 88, passed away Saturday, April 12, 2008, at his home. He was born November 30, 1919, in Dublin, Ireland. Morgan was the owner of Williams Grove Speedway, a veteran of WWII having served with the British Army's Royal Irish Fusiliers where he held the rank of Major Colonel. He was of the Catholic Faith and was also a member of the NY Athletic Club. Morgan was known by many as a strong minded, good hearted man that loved children and animals. He is survived by his loving wife, Ingrid Steffen Hughes; his son, Michael Anthony Hughes of May's Landing, N.J.; daughter, Kathleen Hughes of Philadelphia; an several brothers and sisters living in England. Services will be held Wednesday at 8 p.m. at the Cocklin Funeral Home, Inc., 30 N. Chestnut St., Dillsburg. A viewing will be held on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family. The family has requested in lieu of flowers, that memorial contributions be made to the Morgan Hughes Memorial Fund for Injured Drivers, c/o Williams Grove Speedway, 1 Speedway Drive, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055.
