Joseph E. Schnetzka
Joseph "Joe" Schnetzka, 69, passed away peacefully Thursday, October 27, 2016 at the York Hospital. He was a hero to many, passing after a courageous six year battle with leukemia. He was the loving husband of Anita (Dentler) Schnetzka with whom they celebrated their 41st wedding anniversary on November 30, 2015.
Mr. Schnetzka was born in York on March 28, 1947, son of the late Levere M. and Helen B. (Shetrone) Schnetzka.
He served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy, participating in the Navy Band and USO tours during the Vietnam War.
Joe was the owner of Tri Town Financial Services, Dover, since 1984, CLU, RFC, LUTCF - President. Prior employments included, District Manager of the Baltimore Life Insur. Co., Assistant to the Vice President of Regional Marketing and District Manager for Prudential Life Insurance Co. and was the past President of Life Underwriters of York.
He was a member of Stillmeadow Church of Nazarene, York. Joe was a member of Masonic Lodge #451, White Rose Lodge Tall Cedars, the Gettysburg Big Band, Unforgettables Big Band, Spring Garden Band, York High Alumni Band, the NRA and several other unnamed organizations.
In addition to his wife, survivors include two daughters, Kimberly Golden and Melissa Smith and her husband, Troy, all of York; five grandchildren, Jakob Keeney, Kylie Keeney, Pyrce McClane, Gavin Smith and Haley Smith; two sisters, Judith Groves of NC and Kathy Ann Edwards of Ephrata; numerous nieces and 1 nephew.
There will be a Celebration of Life service 12 noon Saturday, November 5, 2016 at Stillmeadow Church of Nazarene, 400 Stillmeadow Lane, York. Officiating will be his pastor, Dr. Bayse "Bud" Reedy. Burial will be private. There will be a visitation from 10 a.m. to 12 noon prior to the service at the church.
At the family's request, memorial contributions may be made to, Be The Match Foundation, 500 N. 5th St., Minneapolis, MN 55401-1206.
The family wants to extend their sincere appreciation to Andrew Beider. (Joe's stem cell donor.) Because of Andrew's unselfish generosity, Joe was able to enjoy many more years of life's celebrations.
Arrangements were entrusted to the LeRoy R. Leber Funeral Home, Inc., York (Shiloh).
