Charlotte L. Dowell
December 11, 1930 - September 10, 2017
Charlotte L. (Leib) Dowell, 86, formerly of East Berlin, passed away Sunday, September 10, 2017 at Normandie Ridge Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, York. She was the wife of Donald M. Dowell who died in 1992.
Mrs. Dowell was born in York on December 11, 1930, daughter of the late William H. and Mabel S. (Latchaw) Leib.
Charlotte was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, York. She and her husband worked side by side tending to their chicken farm in East Berlin for many years. She was a former member of the Dover Farm Women Assoc. for several years.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister. Survivors cherishing her memory are two sons, Brian K. Dowell and his wife, Cathy of East Berlin and Bradley C. Dowell and his wife, Carol of Sebastian, FL; a daughter, Linda A. Smith and her husband, Michael of York; seven grandchildren; nine great- grandchildren; a sister, Ruth A. Leib; and a brother, Robert M. Leib. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Blanche Saylor; and a brother, Charles Leib.
Funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Friday, September 15, 2017 at the LeRoy R. Leber Funeral Home, Inc., 2290 School St., York (Shiloh). Officiating will be Chaplain David Brinker from Normandie Ridge. There will be a viewing from noon to 1 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Charlotte will be laid to rest beside her husband in Mount Rose Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested memorial contributions be made, in Charlotte's name, to the Normandie Ridge Benevolent Fund, 1700 Normandie Dr., York, PA 17408 or to the , 2595 Interstate Dr., Suite 100, Harrisburg, PA 17110.
