Sterling C. Dehoff

York
Sterling C. "Sterl" Dehoff, 88, passed away Monday, September 18, 2017, at Providence Place, Dover, surrounded by his loving family. He was husband of Nancy J. (Metz) Dehoff who died in 2013.
Mr. Dehoff was born in Springettsbury Township, November 17, 1928, son of the late Sarah A. (Dehoff) Bowers and stepfather, Walter E. "Whitey" Bowers.
Sterl worked as a stockroom clerk for the former York Machinery and Supply Company for 47 years, from which he retired at the age of 62. In addition, he was a manager for over 40 years at the Granite Hill Family Campground, Gettysburg.
He was a member of Faith United Church of Christ, York, Lionel Railroaders Club, Lionel Collectors Club of America, and a life member of Lincoln Engine Company No. 9. He was an avid bowler in York County leagues for several years.
Sterl loved all, and all loved him. Everyone called him Pappy Sterl.
Survivors include a daughter, Brenda J. Howe and her husband, Terry of Dover; two granddaughters, Tammy J. Stephens Meisenhelter and her husband, Greg of York, and Wendy J. Howe of Dover; two great-grandchildren, Cameron J. and MacKenzie B. Stephens, both of York; a brother, Donald B. Fauth of York; and a sister, Sharon L. Bowers Harrington of TX. He was preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey L. Dehoff; and a brother, George Hess.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m., Thursday, September 28, 2017, at Faith United Church of Christ, 509 Pacific Ave., York. Officiating will be his pastor, the Rev. Ron Oelrich. Final resting place will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery, York. There will be a visitation 9:30 to 11 a.m. at the church. There will be a luncheon following interment in the church social hall. At the family's request, please dress casual.
