Betty Delp

York - Betty Evelyn (Hock) Delp passed away Monday, April 30, 2018. She was born November 4, 1920 in York. She lived a total of 97 years in York County, daughter of the late John and Elsie (Siefert) Hock.

Betty was the wife of the late Swiler L. Delp for 61 years. They moved several times in their early years of marriage and finally settled in Mt. Wolf where they raised their children. After the children were raised and graduated from high school, Betty and Swiler moved three more times settling in York (Shiloh).

Betty and Swiler had five children, Robert and wife, Judy, Kenneth and wife, Sally, Sandra and husband, Ralph, Dennis and wife, Linda, and Michael and wife, Barbara, all who live in York County.

She was raised in the post-depression era and had a very meager existence living in the City of York. She was born into a moderately large family of which one sibling is still living, Gloria Gotwalt of York. She met Swiler and after their courtship, the rest is history.

She was an amazing mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. Her family was her life plus her love of cooking. Nothing was more important to her than to have family visit and spend time with her. She cherished these moments up until the day she left this world. She kept a running ledger of birthdays and tried to send cards, always with a small gift inside. At Christmas she sent many cards to everyone with a gift inside and this was her passion, to touch everyone in her family. Besides her five children, she leaves behind 16 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

Celebration of Life service will be 10 a.m. Friday, May 4, 2018 at St. Davids Congregational Church, 2411 Oakland Rd., Dover. Officiating will be her Pastor, N. Patrick Teaford. There will be a visitation from 9 to 10 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Final resting place will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery, York.

In lieu of flowers, please send any contributions in her memory to St. Davids Congregational Church, 2411 Oakland Rd., Dover, PA 17315 or to Homeland Hospice, 2300 Vartan Way, Suite 270, Harrisburg, PA 17110.

Grandma you will be truly missed.. I always remember when we were younger and come visit and you would have puzzles started on the card table that we would help with., also remember the fun times we all went to bingo together.. You made the best sugar cookies and rice pudding. Will never forget all the stories you and grandpa would tell us about our dad... I will cherish all my memories.. I know you are now with grandpa and rejoicing.. See you again on the other side.. Much Love.... Sherry

It broke my heart yesterday to hear of Aunt Betty's passing. I guess I just think she was going to live forever. I haven't seen her in probably 7 or 8 years and for that I'm sorry. I have so many memories growing up I keep playing over and over in my head right now. When I was at my grandma house (Sis Loucks) (which was most of the time) I saw Aunt Betty a lot. Hanging out on Walnut Street. Or at Aunt Gloria house or down at Aunt Honey's house these ladies sure did know how to make you laugh so much. That is one thing about this family these ladies sure were the rock behind it all. She has shown us what family is all about. I for one will never ever forget Aunt Betty. With much love to you Aunt Betty as you reunite with the rest of your family and until I see you again I love you! To the rest of the family I'm so deeply sorry for your loss. May God wrap his arms a round you that you find peace in knowing she lived a good long life and she is now with the rest of her family celebrating and she will now sit at God's table.
