Don has always been a great cousin. He has always been very cordial to me and I always enjoyed our conversations at any of the reunions or family gatherings I was able to attend.

I, of course, knew Don all my life, being a cousin. I did not get to associate with Don and his family that much because of distance, he living in Pennsylvania, and I having spent the last 50 years in the West. The Shoemake family and my family (Carl Robinson family) grew up together and were like brothers and sisters.

I, being the youngest of the Robinson family, did not have the opportunity to develop that kind of relationship with the Shoemakers like my older siblings did; Melvin, Dorothy, Robert, or Susan. I did, however, always cherish our family relationship.

Don was a good man, he will be missed by us all.

Don and his brothers were always spiritual giants throughout the early days of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I always enjoyed our phone conversations about the early history of the Chambersburg Branch and then Ward. I can see him teaching right now on the other side,as he is with his loved ones and our Savior .He left a legacy through his sons to continue the work he started here. Until we meet again Brother Don

To the Shoemakers; i am sorry for your personal loss but I am certain he has passed to the place we all aspire to get to one day. Don Shoemaker always made me feel as though he was genuinely glad to see me, and i believe he made everyone feel that way. i never heard anyone speak poorly of Don. i will always feel sorry i didn't get to know him better but one day i hope we will meet again. I hope you will find peace in knowing Don is home at last.

Don Shoemaker was my Bishop. He was a great leader. Love and appreciate his wife and their family. He encouraged me and helped me see straight in life. We will meet again

Donald Lee Shoemaker is my first cousin. He is also a best friend. He and I grew up together in southern Franklin County, where we visited each other often and filled our time with many fun activities--sometimes with mischief. We also grew in the Gospel of Jesus Christ together. I will miss our weekly chats about the Gospel, family, politics, football and much reminiscence. I look forward to the time when we can chat again. Don Shoemaker was a great man. The Lord will welcome him with open arms.
