Mildred O. Myers Obituary
YORK Mildred O. (Markey) Myers, 88, formerly of Springfield Twp., entered into the presence of God on Saturday, April 27, 2013, from ManorCare South. She was the wife of Franklin M. Myers, Sr., who passed on July 4, 2012, and with whom she shared 65 years of marriage, and was a young widow of Wayne Smeigh, who passed in 1945 in World War II. Born on June 17, 1924, in York County, she was the daughter of the late Emma (Krout) and Walter E. Markey. Mrs. Myers was a member of the Codorus Church of the Brethen. She and her late husband owned and operated a family farm for many years. She loved being a volunteer at the York Hospital for over 20 years, accumulating over 8000 hours of service. Mildred was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt who touched many lives and will be deeply missed. Mrs. Myers leaves to cherish her memory a daughter, Judy Stein and husband, Charlie of Wrightsville; two daughters-in-law, Jane Myers of Bear, Del., Cathy Myersof York; grandchildren, Michelle Parill, Melinda Lomenzo, Justin Myers, and Kelsey Myers; stepgrandchildren, Jason Stein and Colby Culp; great-grandchildren, Marina Parill, Briese Parill, Angelina Lomenzo, and Gavin Myers; step great-grandchildren, Colt Stein, Clay Stein, Wyatt Chernov and Zachary Lomenzo; a sister, Sarah Markey of York; four brothers, Donald Markey, Richard Markey, and Philip Markey, all of York County, and Walter Markey, Jr.of Reading; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Franklin Myers, Sr.; two sons, Franklin Myers, Jr. and Terry Myers; two sisters, Ruth Fitz and Patta Smyser; and one brother, Michael Markey. The memorial service will be on Saturday, May 4, 2012, at 12 noon at her church, Codorus Church of the Brethen, 1129 Dunkard Valley Road, Loganville, with Pastor Richard Fischl officiating. Following the service there will be a time of visitation and fellowship. In lieu of flowers ,memorial contributions may be sent in care of Heartland Hospice, 3417-C Cocord Road,, York, PA 17402; or a . Arrangements entrusted to Gladfelter Funeral Home, Inc., York.
