Liborio Alfano Obituary
Liborio "Bobo" Alfano entered peacefully into rest Monday March 29, 2021 at Wellspan York Hospital after 86 wonderful years of life devoted to his family. He was the husband and soulmate of Mary Jo (Sferlazza) Alfano for 62 years. They emigrated to America from Sicily in 1959 and made their home in York, PA.
Mr. Alfano was born April 18, 1934 in Cattolica Eraclea, Sicily, Italy, a son of the late Giovanni and Filippa (Lucia) Alfano. A beloved figure of the community, Bobo was a member of St. Joseph Church, where he served as an usher for many years, and a member of the Sons of Italy, York Lodge. He established Bobo's Hair Crafters in 1964 where you could find him 6 days a week doing what he loved until 2017. He spent his last years alongside Mary Jo.
Bobo is survived by his wife; daughters Phyllis J. Leonard and her husband Thomas Leonard, Frances Emig, his son in law Gary Emig, Nina Filardo and her husband Paul Filardo; grandchildren Lynda Sterner and her husband Seth Sterner, Lisa Filipelli and her husband Daniel Prakopcyk, Kaitlin Filipelli and her partner Ray Rosario, Jessica Emig, Mary Jo Emig, Vincent Filardo and his fiance Elisa Rodriguez, and Nicholas Filardo; great-grandchildren Mckenzie Fisher, Madison Sterner, Macey Sterner, Levi Backel Jr, and Abbie Jo Backel. His sister Francesca Frenda, and nephew Salvatore Frenda and Emilio Frenda as well as additional family members in Canada and Sicily.
Memorial contributions may be made to The American Cancer Foundation.

So sorry to hear of Bobo's passing. Bobo and his wife Mary Jo were my next-door neighbors growing up. He gave me my first haircut as a child in our kitchen. He could make anyone laugh and was always kind. He will missed by everyone who knew him. My prayers are with the entire family.

So sad to hear of Bobo’s passing. Thoughts and prayers with the entire family. Bobo gave me my first haircut in our kitchen , he was the best next door neighbor growing up. He was always welcoming , kind and could make anyone laugh. He will be missed by all who he encountered .
