John Fetrow Obituary
Erie - John G. Fetrow, Jr., 97, of Erie, formerly of Newberrytown , passed away peacefully, Saturday, April 24, 2021 at the PA Soldiers and Sailors Home in Erie, PA. He is the husband of Thelma E. (Hoke) Fetrow of Erie, PA who he married 74 years ago on October 6, 1946.
Mr. Fetrow was born September 23, 1923 in Etters and was the son of the late John G. Fetrow, Sr. and Laura M. (King) Fetrow.
He was employed for 34 years as a Diesel Truck Mechanic for Snyder Automobile. He was a member of the American Legion Post 143 in New Cumberland, PA and the Susquehanna V.F.W. Post 2493 in Mount Wolf. John proudly served his country in the United States Army during WWII.
In addition to his wife Thelma, John is survived by his son John Fetrow, III and his wife Susan of Glen Rock; his daughter, Sharon Burke of Erie, PA; 3 grandchildren, Melissa, Terry and Tanya; 4 great grandchildren; 4 great great granddaughters; his brothers, George Fetrow of York Haven and Robert Fetrow of Etters and his sister Ruth Fogle of York. Mr. Fetrow was preceded in death by his brother, Edward Fetrow and his sister, Martha Donley.
His funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM, Saturday, May 1, 2021 at the Diehl Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 87 South Main Street, Mount Wolf. Viewing will be from 10:00 to 11:00 AM, Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Paddletown Cemetery. York County Veterans Honor Guard will provide Military Honors at the graveside.
