We were very sorry to hear about Pat's passing. It's already a while ago, but we did not know until just this past week, and we were shocked. We used to live closer to Pat but moved to the west side of town several years ago. As a result, we didn't run into her as frequently as before, but whenever we did see her walking a dog, we always stopped for a little chat. She was a lovely person, and such a dedicated dog lover. Our thoughts and prayers go out to her family, even at this late date.
The Stinson Family, Stouffville
VANDERVOORT (Davern), Patricia Marie It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Pat after her courageous battle with cancer. Pat passed away peacefully on August 27, in her 67th year, with her family by her side. Pat was born on June 7, 1953 in Hamilton, Ontario. She was a loving and devoted mother to Michael and his wife Natalia, and a high-spirited grand- mother to her little Chloe. Pat is survived by her mother Constance (Connie) Wright, brother Bill Davern (Shannon) and her former spouse Grant Vandervoort (Jamie). She is predeceased by her father William (Bill) Davern. Pat will forever be remembered for her gentle nature, her love of animals (especially Oskar), her devotion to her dog-walking business, her beautiful award-winning garden and her passion for discovering treasures at garage sales and the Care & Share. On any given day, you would find Pat around Stouffville walking the dogs and catching up with people she met along the way. She was a beautiful person inside and out and will be missed by many. The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff at the Markham-Stouffville Hospital and Pat's friends (with a special thanks to Christel Hawkins) and neighbours for their tender care, compassion and support throughout this difficult time. A celebration of life will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion (Stouffville) on Friday, September 6 from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers and to honour Pat's wishes, donations can be made to Leader of the Pack Dog Rescue, a registered charity in Stouffville. A private interment will be held at the Stouffville Cemetery at a later date.
