Peter West Notice
WEST Peter George of Gunness
Peacefully at home on 26th December 2020,
aged 85 years.
Beloved husband of Vicki,
treasured dad of Becky, Rachel and Dominic; father-in-law to David, Mireille and Jack (Graeme); 'Grandpa Pete' to Sam and Bex, Emma and Ed and great-grandpa to Joya. Pete was a good friend to many and will be hugely missed.

He was well-known in the Isle of Axholme farming community as well as in the motor trade industry, having farmed at White Hall since leaving school at the age of 14. He branched out into haulage and car dealing which led to Peter West Motors becoming the BMW dealership in Scunthorpe.

In his earlier years, Pete was a keen sportsman, playing hockey regularly for Normanby Park Hockey Club and he also enjoyed go-cart racing, ski-ing, shooting and playing billiards and snooker, and helped set up the Gunness Men's Institute.

He was an active member of the Vermuyden Masonic Lodge for several years and a lifelong member of Gunness Methodist Chapel, where he was able to put his singing talents to good use. He also served as a Parish Councillor for the village.

Pete lived life to the full and had many tales of tomfoolery, near misses and escapades and we hope he will be remembered for his sense of fun and love of laughter.

Due to current restrictions the funeral will be for immediate family only but Peter will make his final journey around the village on Wednesday 13th January, leaving White Hall Farm at 11.20am via Old Village Street and arriving at Gunness Methodist Chapel at 11.30am followed by private committal at Woodlands Crematorium at 12.40pm. A memorial service to celebrate Peter's life will be held at a later date.

Family flowers only but donations in lieu would be gratefully accepted for Macmillan Cancer Support. These may be sent c/o R.Wallace & Son Ltd or online via Just Giving at: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/rebecca-taylor137
