Wynona Jane "Nona" (Spencer) Burkett Obituary
Nona was born January 9, 1929 to Roy King and Leona (Hutchinson) Spencer in Eldorado Oklahoma. She started working at McElroy Drug from the time she was in the 7th grade until she graduated from high School in 1947 where she was a star on the basketball team. In January of 1948 she married Gene Burkett in Eldorado.

The family moved to Yuma, Arizona in 1954. She was a licensed cosmetologist at Sanquinetti's, a bookkeeper for a CPA, Manager of Family Finance Company in Yuma and Flagstaff. Well known in the Yuma area when she began Burkett Realty as owner and broker until she retired in 2000. She was an avid softball player, bowler and golfer. She was a past President of the Yuma Association of Realtors and Desert Hills Women's Golf Association. Nona was also a member of the Spurettes, a ladies organization affiliated with the Jaycees who organized and ran the Silver Spur Rodeo.

One of the greatest accomplishments she cherished was after retirement. She and her friend Bonnie Watters were able to play golf in all 50 states, all Canadian Provinces and several European Countries.

She is survived by her companion of over 50 years, Bonnie Watters of their home in Yuma. Son Chris (Lou) Burkett of Dolores, Colorado, grandson Ben (Leah) and great grandchildren, Aubrey & Asher of Denver, Sam (Liu Yin) of Changsha, China, and granddaughter Nelsa of Cresta Butte, Colorado, sister Kata Warner of Clermont Florida, and a host of Spencer and Watters nieces and nephews that she adored.

Preceding her in death were her parents and husband, two brothers, Billy C and Roy Edwin, three sisters; Aline, Jeanetta, and Martina. Nona was a Methodist.

Her loved ones would like to thank the following people for their loving care these past few years: Dr. Elnadry Y.R.M.C.; Hospice of Yuma Staff; Nurses-Amy, Emy and Lluvia; Aides – Maria, Wendy, Norma, Claudia, Gabby, Laura, Verionica; homemaker – Lioda; and special care givers – Terri, Donna, Ana, Alma, and Diana. She loved you and we loved you for the special care you provided.

Memorial services will be held in Eldorado, Oklahoma, where burial will be in the Spencer Family Plot.
