John E. Hunter, Sr.

DRESDEN: John E. Hunter, Sr., 81, of Dresden, Ohio died Thursday morning March 21, 2013 at Genesis Morrison House, Zanesville, Ohio.

Born December 22, 1931 in Zanesville, he was the son of the late Elmer and Edith Hunter. Mr. Hunter was a retired truck driver having 30 years of service with Mattingly Foods. He was a member of the North Gate Open Bible Church, the UCT and he was an avid bowler.

Surviving is his wife of 60 years, Bonnie A. (Archer) Hunter whom he married February 28, 1953; a son John Hunter, Jr. of Frazeysburg, Ohio; two daughters, Annice Tilton of Mentor, Ohio and Patricia Hunter of Zanesville; seven grandchildren, Richard L. Tilton, II, Leah (Mike) Swanson, Troy (Niki) Hunter, William (Angela) McGee, Amanda (D. J.) Ashton, Christopher Hunter and Rachelle Hunter; sixteen great grandchildren; three sisters, Jean Alexander and Phyllis Grotegeer, both of Zanesville and Beulah (Jay) Eastman of Youngstown, Ohio; one brother in-law, Bob Broyells of Princton, West Virginia; two sisters in-law, Loretta Lloyd and Pat Archer, both of Dresden and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Katie Christensen; two sisters, Frances Romine and Juanita Newton; a sister in-law, Phyllis Broyells and four brothers in-law, Frank Alexander, Sheldon Romine, Nick Grotegeer and Gary Archer.

Calling hours will be 2 to 4pm and 6 to 8pm Monday, March 25, 2013 at the North Gate Open Bible Church, 10516 Frazeysburg Road, Dresden.

Funeral services will be 11:00am Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at the church with the Pastors Mike and Melody Foster officiating. Burial will be in Dresden Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Genesis Black Lung and Respiratory Health Clinic, 2951 Maple Avenue, Zanesville, Ohio 43701.
