NEW LEXINGTON: Virgil J. Smith, 76, of New Lexington, Ohio died at 11:22am on Sunday, November 10, 2013 at Genesis-Good Samaritan Emergency Department, Zanesville, OH.

Born October 4, 1937 in New Lexington, Ohio to the late Joseph William and Addie M. Rapp Smith.

Virgil was graduate of Saint Aloysius High School; United States Army Veteran; retired from Superior Fibers in Bremen after 39 ½ years of service and had worked at Krogers in New Lexington for the past 12 years. He was a member of Saint Rose Catholic Church of New Lexington; an avid and very big fan of Notre Dame and was a "Ford Man."

Loving Husband, Father and Grandfather.

Survived by his wife of 53 years, Janice Mooter Smith of the home; children, Tammy (Fred) Bowles of Somerset, Cindy (Mickey) Randolph of Thornville and Joe (Susan) Smith of New Lexington; three special grandchildren, Joshua and Shane Smith, Lee Bowles; sister, Mary Wharton of Cambridge; and a special niece, Sharon.

In addition to his parents, preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph and Ben Studer.

Calling hours will be held from 2-4pm & 5-7pm with Rosary at 4pm on Tuesday, November 12, 2013 at the Roberts-Winegardner Funeral Home, 304 Mill Street, New Lexington, Ohio. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00am on Wednesday, November 13, 2013 at Saint Rose Catholic Church, Main and Water Streets, New Lexington, Ohio with Father James Csaszar as celebrant. Burial will be in New Lexington Cemetery with graveside military services by John Tague Post #188, American Legion of New Lexington, OH.
