I have been to Dave for lessons twice over the years as a child and when I married in my early twenties.I also worked for Dave as a painter and decorator painting the rear of his house when I was 18 and an apprentice decorator. He was more than a teacher he was a friend as well he taught me the tools I needed to not just play the guitar but how to understand how the rhythm and timing works and how this combines into a song both left hand and right hand.Dave also showed me how to restring a guitar surprisingly it's something I remembered and haven't forgotten I think he'd be surprised by that as well as I'm 53 now so it was long ago.My mum and dad used go in the club over the road from him and he still asked about me many years later.I always missed seeing him and not just for lessons by eck you could talk hind leg off a donkey Dave and the banter could be hilarious!
Dave I just want to say your still missed and as long as I breathe you always will be.
Farewell Dave

Back around 1977-79 when I was 14-16 I had guitar lessons with David (his other half, Julie, was a close friend of my Aunty). Many years later (2010) I bought a house almost immediately opposite where I'd had those lessons; it wasn't until I noticed a sign in the window for guitar lesson that I realised David might still be living there. I bumped into him on his short walk to collect his newspaper just the once, only to say 'hello' really, I didn't expect him to remember one of the very many people he must have taught down the years. I've loved playing my guitar(s) ever since - David is largely responsible for my growing collection bless him! Musically speaking, "rest" well David.
