John Pendlebury Obituary

Pendlebury
John
It is with great sadness that we announce that
4 hours before his 93rd birthday, on the 7th January, the peaceful passing of John, loving husband of the late Jean,
beloved father of Joanna and Nigel, dear brother to the late Frank and Jean, and much loved grandpa,
great grandpa, father-in-law, and uncle.
John had a huge amount of love for his family, friends, his town and especially the footballing community of Buxton. He will be sadly missed by so many people.
John decided he did not want a funeral, therefore we shall be hosting a function to celebrate his life, the date of which will be announced in due course.

I understand that John Pendlebury is the first son of Thomas Richard Pendlebury, born 10 May 1901, who came from Manchester, UK, in the early 1900s with his parents, and who settled in the coal town of Cessnock, in the Upper Hunter Valley, in New South Wales. I saw John only once when he visited his grandparents who were living in Telopea, near Gosford, NSW.

I am a member of the second family of John Pendleburys father, Thomas, who was born in Didsbury, Lancashire, UK. I saw John only once when he visited our paternal grandparents although I did not know our relationship at the time, I still remember the interest John had in who I was.

I saw John once, when he was visiting his paternal grandparents in their retirement house in Booker Bay, NSW. I was visiting with my father, Thomas Richard Pendlebury, John was sitting on the back steps of the house of my, our, and my father and I were staying in the converted garage. He kept looking at me. I did not know at the time, that he was the eldest boy in my father^s first family.
