"Emeritus Professor of Classical
Art and Archaeology at University
of Manchester".
Loved and loving husband for 55 years of the late and much missed Lesley Anne Ling. Passed away in Buxton after a long illness on 1st November 2025 aged 82 years.
Formerly of Combs for over 40 years.
He was a Lifelong Supporter of Watford
Football Club.
Family flowers only donations in lieu to Parkinson's UK 50 Broadway, London,
SW1H 0DB. Funeral service at
St Thomas Becket Church,
Chapel-en-le-Frith on 26th November at 1.30pm.

Roger Ling was an outstanding scholar of the Ancient World, with numerous publications on wall paintings and mosaics. One of his greatest achievements was the meticulous study of the House of the Menander, one of the grandest houses at Pompeii. When I began my own research journey on Pompeii he was a generous source of advice and encouragement, that was much appreciated.
