Retired miner Mr Charles (Charlie) Joseph McHugh (73), of Rutland Street, Mansfield, was buried at the town's cemetery after a service at St Philip Neri's RC Church. Born at Castlederg, County Tyrone, Northern Ireland, and educated there at Corgary School, Mr McHugh lived locally for more than 50 years. A miner for more than 35 years, he worked at many local collieries, including Clipstone, Bevercotes, Thoresby and Welbeck, until his retirement in 1993. Sad news travels.
I am so sorry to hear of your loss so far away here in Canada. I always valued my time talking to Charlie whenever we met, usually the Talbot or Plough as it was. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Shaun Donovan and Family.
