A SERVICE at Mansfield crematorium chapel preceded cremation of Mr Ernest William (Bill) Cannon (86), of Ravensdale Road, Mansfield.
Born at Skegby and educated at St Andrew's, Skegby, he was a resident of the area for 64 years. He was an engineer at Ransom's, Hoffman & Pollard Ltd, Newark, until retirement at the age of 65.
He enjoyed football, snooker, cricket, golf, liked to play cards and dominos at Sandhill Working Men's Club. He also liked going out on Friday nights to the Gas Board Club and socialising with friends and family.
Mr Cannon, who died at King's Mill Hospital, Sutton, leaves his wife Annie Cannon, daughter Carla Annette, grandchildren David and Stephanie, great grandaughter Ellie. He was pre deceased by daughter Michelle.
Mourners were Mrs A. Cannon, Ms C. A. Cannon, Mrs I. Shaw, Mr and Mrs G. Cannon, Mrs B. Wright, Mr J. Pierpoint, Mr A. Gregory, Mr G. Perry, Miss J. Perry, Miss C. Perry, Mrs J. Prichard, Mrs P. Lockwood, Mr R. Owen, Mr and Mrs P. Bland; Mr E. J. Haynes (representing Sandhills Working Mens Club), Mr D. Yates; Mrs C. Bradbury and Mrs E. Golanowska (representing L.H.A.S.S.), Mrs M. Cook, Mrs T. Thrall.
Floral tributes were from immediate family, donations received were for Stroke Ward, King's Mill Hospital.
The service was conducted by Rev J. Burgess and arrangements were by W. S. Ingham and Son Ltd.
