Retired loco driver Mr Frank William Dickinson (88), who had been a resident of Nightingale Care Home, Edwinstowe, for five years, was buried at New Ollerton cemetery after a service at the town's St Paulinus' Church. A life-long local resident, Mr Dickinson, who previously lived at Yew Tree Road, New Ollerton, was born at Wellow and educated at the National School, Wellow Road, Ollerton. All his working life was spent at Ollerton Colliery, mainly as a surface loco driver until retirement in 1984. In his earlier years he enjoyed playing cricket for Wellow Cricket Club. His interests included gardening, walking with his dog and coach holidays all around Britain with his wife, Nina. He was an ardent supporter of Ollerton Town Football Club and enjoyed watching Thoresby Cricket Club. Mr Dickinson, who died at Nightingale Care Home, leaves his four sons, Barry, Ian, Brian and Terry, six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Mourners were Mr and Mrs B. G. Beech, and arrangements were by New Ollerton Co-operative Funeralcare.
