J. TAYLOR Obituary


A service at Mansfield crematorium chapel preceded cremation of Mr John Taylor (84), who was a resident of Parkside Nursing Home, Forest Town. Mr Taylor had previously lived at Melbourne Street, Mansfield Woodhouse.
Born at Ashington, Northumberland, and educated at Burns Lane (Birklands) School, Warsop, Mr Taylor had been a local resident for 80 years.
He served in the Royal Air Force towards the end of the Second World War in Egypt and Udine, Italy, where he met his wife, Emilia. He then worked on local buses for a few years, finally going to work at Welbeck Colliery as a face worker until retiring in 1985.
His interests included having a pint at Mansfield Woodhouse Ex-Servicemen's Club and the Park Hall Tavern, having a bet on the horses, and reading books from Mansfield Woodhouse Library. He also liked holidays in Italy with his wife, children and relatives and also to Jersey, and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mr Taylor, who died at Parkside Nursing Home, Forest Town, leaves his wife, Mrs Emilia Taylor, two sons, Silvano and David, daughter Marisa, six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Holland, Lucy Hursthouse and Maria Incerti, Angie and Geoff Hill, Right Rev J. Leatherland, Carol Lunn, Mr and Mrs C. H. Millership, Alan and Anne Morgan, Mr and Mrs Reeves, Mr and Mrs A. Stanley, Rev Fr J. Tavares; David and Margaret Taylor (representing the Taylor family), Lawrence and Sue Taylor, Mrs A. Taylor; Leslie Unwin (representing May Unwin); Mrs S. Ward (representing Parkside Nursing Home), Mr and Mrs P. Williams; Mr and Mrs K. Wilson (representing Mrs G. Lancashire), Joy and Alan Winstanley.
Unable to attend were his sisters, May Unwin and Alice Lawton, and Mr and Mrs C. Morgan.
Floral tributes were from the family and Margaret and David and family. Donations of £250 are to be divided between The Alzheimer's Society, Cancer Research and Parkside Nursing Home.
The service was conducted by Fr P. Holland, and arrangements were by A. W. Lymn.
