Retired miner Mr Norman Ogilvie (70), of Rufford Avenue, New Ollerton, was cremated at Sherwood Forest crematorium, Boughton, after a service at St Joseph's RC Church, New Ollerton.
Born and educated at Wallsend, Tyne & Wear, Mr Ogilvie had lived locally for 40 years, and had worked as a miner for 40 years, firstly at the Rising Sun Colliery, Wallsend, and then locally at Bilsthorpe Colliery, retiring in 1993.
His interests included gardening, growing leeks and looking after caged birds. He was also a honorary member of Boughton & District Social Club.
Mr Ogilvie, leaves his wife, Mrs Kathleen Ogilvie, son John, five daughters, Linda, Maria, Janet, Madeline and Carol, 11 grandchildren - Liam, Lisa, Kerry, Natalie, Katie, Kyle, Melanie, Rachel, Rebecca, Amy and Sophie - and his father, Mr N. Ogilvie, of Wallsend.
