Raymond Atkinson

FAMILY and friends gathered at St Paulinus' Church, New Ollerton, for the service which preceded cremation at Sherwood Forest crematorium, Boughton, of Mr Raymond Atkinson (81), of Lime Tree Close, New Ollerton.Born at Alfreton and educated in Derbyshire, Mr Atkinson was a resident of the area for 55 years.He was a deputy at Thoresby Colliery and spent 30 years in the mining industry until retiring in 1986.His interests included darts, fishing, snooker, pool, dominoes, bowls, pigeon racing and showing.Mr Atkinson, who died at King's Mill Hospital, Sutton, on 20th May, leaves son John, daughters Rosemary and Lisa, eight grandsons and four great-grandchildren.Mourners were Mr and Mrs J.
