Mrs Valerie Betteridge (63), of Rowan Drive, Kirkby, was buried at Kirkby Woodhouse cemetery after a service at St John's Church, Annesley Woodhouse.
A life-long local resident, Mrs Betteridge was educated at Kirkby Woodhouse and local schools.
She had worked at various branches of the co-operative stores, had been a barmaid at Kirkby's Duke of Wellington public house and had finally worked on the child crossing patrol at Orchard Primary and Nursery schools, from where she retired in 2004.
Her interests included reading, solving crosswords and puzzles, cooking and catering for parties, especially for her family. She also enjoyed days out with family and friends and watching television, mostly murder mysteries.
Mrs Betteridge, who died at the John Eastwood Hospice, Sutton, leaves her two sons, Richard and Phillip, two daughters, Kate and Samantha, 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
