Anthony (Tony)
He was the son of
William Marshall (Bill) and
Lillian Emily Louisa Marshall
(née Cannings).
Bill Marshall moved his young family from Coventry during the war to the safety of Watford Village where he ran the Henley Arms with his wife from approximately 1939 to 1964.
Tony attended Daventry Grammar School before signing up for the
Royal Army Service Corps at 15 years of age. He later transferred to the REME regiment and travelled the world serving in Northern Ireland, Singapore, Libya, India, Malaysia and Germany.
He was captain of the gym team and won trophies for several sports and lived an action packed life water skiing and sailing.
He met Joan in Northern Ireland and they married in Singapore where their first child Celine was born, followed by their second daughter Siobhan, born while they were in Germany. Tony was transferred to Liverpool where their first 2 sons Anthony and Jeremy
were born.
Tony left the army after 30 years of service in 1975 and settled into civilian life in St Helens working as plant manager at Sika Contracts.
Another daughter Aine and a son Damian were born in St Helens where the family have now been living for
50 years.
Tony retired from his job at 65 but was recruited back to work at a start up company where he worked until he was 80.
He died at home a couple of weeks after his 95th birthday.
He will be very sadly missed by his wife Joan and their 6 children and
7 grandchildren.
The funeral will be held
on 12th December
at St Nicholas' Church, St Helens,
WA9 3UX. Any surviving friends or relatives are very welcome to attend.
