Mr Barry Walker

Mr Barry Walker of Glapwell has passed away at home, aged 84.
Born in Glapwell, he was a lifelong resident of the area. On leaving school, he worked for what was to become British Coal and at the time of his retirement was a colliery under-manager.
He was a keen cyclist and had played and watched football when he was younger. In more recent years, he enjoyed travelling, especially cruising, ballroom dancing, eating out and had exceptional woodwork, DIY and gardening skills, his lawns had better stripes than Wimbledon!
Barry was predeceased by his first wife, Gloria, in 1994. He leaves his wife Jane, daughter Rachel and her husband David, Jane's son Matthew and his wife Katie,
Jane's daughter Laura and her husband Ben and grandchildren, Evie, Austin, Tabitha, Eliza and Ronnie the poodle. He was predeceased by his sister Angela and is bereaved by brothers, Terence and David and his sister Diane.
The funeral service takes place on Friday, December 5, 2025 at Chesterfield and District Crematorium at 2:10pm.
Family flowers only, donations to Ashgate Hospice.
