Derek Phillips of Chesterfield has passed away at home, on February 26, 2026, aged 75 years.
Born in Gourock, Derek was a resident locally for 48 years. He attended Greenock Academy and Edinburgh University, studying history. He worked as a professional librarian at Chesterfield Library for 40 years.
His interests included reading, walking, birdwatching, art, culture and beer.
Derek leaves his wife Clare, step sons Andy and his wife Lesley, Nick and his wife Nicola, grandchildren Emma, William, Pietro and Isaac.
Service to take place at Chesterfield Crematorium on Tuesday, April 7, at 12.45pm, followed by a committal at Boythorpe Cemetery.
Any donations in memory of Derek will go to Cancer Research UK.
