Mr Geoffrey Turner of North Wingfield has passed away at Haddon House, Clowne, aged 79.
Born in Pilsley, Chesterfield and a lifelong local resident, Geoffrey was a miner for most of his working life and also worked at Clay Cross Works and finally retired from Worcester Bosch, Danesmoor.
He was a keen sportsman, playing for local teams cricket, football and golf and enjoyed going to the gym, walking on Five Pits Trail, family holidays, especially in Skegness and abroad with his wife and two sons, shopping and meals out.
Geoffrey leaves his wife Brenda, sons Graham and Gary and extended families. He was predeceased by his brother Robert, but he leaves brothers Alan and Alwyn and their families.
The funeral service takes place on Thursday, November 27, Chesterfield Crematorium, at 1.10pm.
No flowers please, donations will be taken in lieu for Alzheimer's Research and Pilsley and Clay Cross Cricket Club.
