Graham Hardy
Graham Hardy has passed away at home, aged 85. He leaves his wife Margaret, daughter Yetta, son Robert, six grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by sons Richard and Christopher.
Graham served for four years in the RAF Regiment, which included 27 months abroad in Cyprus, Famagusta and Aden, Yemen. He held the rank of Corporal and was a gunner instructor training boy entrants. He later worked at Tubeworks for 30 years.
He proudly told of his career which included instructing in the early years of the Duke of Edinburgh award scheme. Nearer home he played a huge part in introducing a youth club and disco in the village. He served on many committees, including Grassmoor Community Association, Ladies football teams etc. Young people have sent appreciation messages of which Graham would have been, perhaps a small part of their lives. He was a keen artist and gardener. In the latter subject he taught at Grassmoor School and served on the Allotment Committee. Tributes had been received from many various sources.
