Helen Phipps Obituary

Miss Helen Phipps
Holme Hall
Miss Helen Rachael Phipps, of Holme Hall, Chesterfield has passed away at home, on January 20, 2023, aged 43.
Born in Chesterfield and a lifelong local resident, Helen was an active member of St Mary's & All Saints Parish Church
(Crooked Spire) for the whole of her life. She took on multiple different roles at church and was as much a part of church as it was a part of her. From the organisation of the Christmas Tree Festival, to working in the church shop, being an altar server or to running the Saints Coffee Shop; she was always ready to offer her support wherever it was needed. More recently she fulfilled the role of choir matron and safeguarding officer.
Helen was heavily involved in the Guiding movement, and ran 2nd Chesterfield Guiding Unit for almost 20 years. She served as District Comissioner for Chesterfield Central District between 2004 and 2007 and was also a mentor for new adult leaders, impacting the lives of so many young people for the better. She was an avid baker and caterer having learnt from her mum Marjorie who also imparted her love of crafting. She went on to study catering at Chesterfield College, later running her own catering and cakes business. Helen shared the family's love of music, joining the family handbell team, known as the Edelweiss Family Ringers and ringing was part of the Northern Bell Orchestra with her dad Malcolm. She also joined the family tradition of ringing church bells. Her family meant the world to her, she was a loving daughter, wonderful sister, and loved being and auntie to her niece and three nephews. Helen spent her life giving to others, spreading her own unique brand of kindness and love wherever she went, and will be hugely missed.
The funeral service takes place on March 1, 2023, St Marys's & All Saints Church, Chesterfield, at 3.30pm, then Chesterfield
Crematorium, Brimington, at 4.30pm.
