Ian West of Walton passed away peacefully at home on October 30, 2025, as he wished, with his wife and two sons by his side.
Born in Bolsover, Ian moved to Hasland at the age of ten and spent the past forty-five years living in Walton. He began his career at the AGD before working at Sheepbridge Engineering and Coalite, later joining the NHS where he served for over thirty years as a finance officer and auditor.
A lifelong supporter of Chesterfield Football Club, Ian followed the Spireites from an early age after being taken to matches by his father. He was an avid collector of vinyl records, a keen reader and a great lover of travel, visiting many countries over the years. Ian also enjoyed taking part in pub quizzes. Ian adored his three grandchildren and cherished every moment spent with his family.
Beloved husband of Jackie, devoted dad of Christopher and Stephen, father-in-law of Claire and Sarah, and proud grandad to Annabelle, Harriet and William. Also brother to Richard, brother-in-law to Graham, uncle to Tony and Paul, and son-in-law to Phyllis. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Funeral service at Chesterfield Crematorium on Wednesday, November 19, at 3.30pm.
