John & Evelyn Varty

John, aged 104 years and Joyce,
aged 93 years, died peacefully at their home,
May and June 2025.
Both have led interesting lives; John became a Biology Teacher at Swanwick School after
his time in the Royal Air Force. He was a member of The Guinea Pig Club, a club formed by, and for, injured RAF aircrew during World War II.
John was also an ex Naturalist Mycologist Botanist member of Derbyshire Naturalists' Trust and Derbyshire Wildlife Trust.
Evelyn 'Joyce' Varty, née Mercer, formerly of Allenton.
Joyce enjoyed her career as a Primary School Teacher and shared many of
her husband's interests.
A service for John and Joyce will be held at
St. Mary's Church, Crich DE4 5DJ
on Tuesday 15th July at 2:00pm.
Family flowers only please.
Donations in lieu will be collected at the service for The Air Ambulance Service.
