Mr Ian Peter Barr, known as Peter of Chesterfield has passed away at Springbank House Care Home, on August 28, 2025, aged 84.
Born in Chesterfield and a lifelong local resident, Peter was an electrical engineer.
He was an expert in magnetics and after retirement a local councillor for almost 20 years and Mayor of Chesterfield in 2011.
Peter was a dedicated public servant alongside his work as a councillor. He was on the board of the charity Fairplay and an active member of the local Rotary Club. He enjoyed spending time gardening with his wife and spending time with his sons and grandchildren.
Peter leaves his wife Jean, sons Christopher and Robin, grandchildren Sophie and Alexander.
The funeral service takes place on September 26, Chesterfield Crematorium, at 10.50am.
