Richard Snowdon Obituary

Mr Richard Snowdon
15/04/1987-15/04/2025
Mr Richard Thomas Snowdon of Long Eaton has passed away at home, aged 38. A kind, gentle and fun filled person, Richard will be missed by his family and his many friends.
Richard was born in Royal Leamington Spa in 1987. He spent his early years in Kenilworth, before moving to Chesterfield, when he was eight years old. Richard attended St Mary's Primary and Senior Schools, before continuing his studies at Warwick University. Richard gained a BSc in Mathematics and a MSc in Mathematical Biology and Biophysical Chemistry, then began working towards a PHD as a research associate.
After university Richard entered the retail industry spending 11 years working for Tesco. He started at the Extra store in Clay Cross, then in 2016, gained a new position at Tesco Head Office in Welwyn Garden City. Richard was a Supply Chain Forecasting Manager, a role in which he excelled due to his exceptional abilities in mathematics and statistical analysis. He developed knowledge of procurement by gaining full membership of the Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS), completing the exams in record time of three years.
Richard was also a talented musician playing numerous instruments but primarily trumpet and trombone. At Warwick he was a member of the group Arrowcat, playing rock and ska. After moving to Hatfield, Richard joined the Ska Punk group Codename Colin in 2018. Playing with them was one of the biggest joys in his short but amazing life. He loved every minute of it, writing music and playing gigs in the south east and around the UK. Richard also played at times for Lead Shot Hazard.
Alongside his work and music, Richard was an avid Formula One fan, travelling to F1 races at many of the classic European racetracks. He had followed Mercedes and Lewis Hamilton for many years.
He also really enjoyed playing board and card games with his old school mates and friends in Chesterfield and would organise games for his family during family get-togethers and holidays.
The funeral service takes place on Friday, June 6, 2025, at Chesterfield Crematorium.
