Mr Ting Sang Wong, known as Robin, of Walton and formerly of Brimington, has died at Chesterfield Royal Hospital, aged 74. Born in Hong Kong and a resident of the local area for 41 years, he was a catering proprietor, retiring in 1995. Mr Wong was a devoted family man and an active member of the local community in Chesterfield. He also served as Chairman of the Sheffield & District Chinese Association for over 20 years and latterly as Chair of the Evergreen Chinese Senior Citizens Lunch Club. In recognition of his life long devotion to community & charity work he was honoured in 2007 with the Sheffield Lifetime Achievement Award. Furthermore in 2010, by invitation of the Queen, he and his wife attended a Garden Party at Buckingham Palace.He leaves widow Ching Kiu Lee Wong, two sons, four daughters and seven grandchildren.A graveside service is due to take place at Boythorpe Cemetery on Wednesday, May 8, at 12.15pm.Funeral directors: Midlands Co-operative, 55 West Bars, Chesterfield (tel. 01246 220201)
