Beloved son of Sue and Andrew and grandson to Audrey and George. Tragically and accidentally, on Wednesday, 23rd July, 2025.
Funeral service on Wednesday, 20th August, at Brewsterwells Crematorium, by Largoward, KY9 1JF, at 2.30 p.m. Family flowers only, please. Donations to Sense Scotland.

You were such a beautiful pure soul with a heart of a gold and an amazing sense of humour. Who loved your friends and having fun. I´m gonna miss your random phone call/ videos chats and voice notes between us talking seriousness and banter.
Hanging out and having fun. I will miss our friendship but I shall cherish it forever

When David approached me in the Lade Braes to talk about science in 2017, it was the start of a friendship that endured to present days, through both good and bad times. David was always keen to learn facts, skills, and philosophies and loved some of the simple and wholesome things in life: music, home cooking, exploring, exercise. I think if there was something about him I look up to and strive to one day emulate, it's his stoic dedication to athleticism and the impressive results it bore. Socrates once said that "it is a shame to grow old without seeing the beauty and strength of which one's body is capable"; by Socrates's standard, David should be proud, because at his most athletic he could do things like hold himself up in a plank position with only his fingers touching the ground. David was also kind-hearted and generous; he was the always the first to share when someone had little, comfort those in need, and he was someone who always tried to pursue peace when others were at odds. The Bible says "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called Children Of God". David embodied that quality well.
David brought a light to everyone's life that cannot be replaced or emulated by anyone else, for there only is, was and ever will be one David Stuart Black; but when we close our eyes, it's not far away. Our memories of him and our love for him, the experiences we had with him and the lessons he helped us learn persist, and will continue to do so.
