Very sorry to hear that Viv passed away at such a relatively young age. We did our post graduate teacher training year at Southampton University and shared a flat there. We had some happy times together and supported each other through teaching practices. Viv met Dave while we were in Southampton and I went to their wedding. I lost touch during the hectic years of teaching in the late 1970s.

I am so saddened to hear that Vivienne has passed away. I am saddened to hear this news. I knew Vivien through her attending Weight Watchers in Grantham on a Monday morning. She was such a kind, friendly and lovely lady. Tracy Ferguson x

Mrs Pickup was my German teacher at KGGS. Fondly remembered always - rest in peace.

The best teacher I ever had
Mrs Pickup started teaching at KGGS in 1988 and had the pleasure of 8K for her first German lesson. I was in that German lesson and I then had the privilege of having her for German for the next six years; as well as her being my 6thform tutor for two years.
Mrs Pickup was the most inspiring teacher; she used games and a variety of activities to get me excited about learning German. Who can forget her vocab game on the board; she had her bag of Opal Fruits ready and waiting to be chucked across the classroom to the person who could write their German word on the board the fastest! I remember she had notebooks with her lesson plans in them; her lists of endless vocab for us to learn. She helped us learn prepositions by making up little songs (can still remember them!) and was a teacher who was kind, dedicated, fun, firm and just brilliant!
Mrs Pickup inspired me to be a teacher; I became a teacher and I am forever grateful for her influence. She inspired me to be as good as she was. I hope that I was.
