1956-2025
Jon passed away at Rose Lodge Care Home in Halifax on 14th August 2025,
aged 69, after a brief illness defiantly fought.
A private cremation has already been held and a private family remembrance will be held at a future date, according to
Jon's wishes.
A beloved brother to 8 siblings, Jon was predeceased by David, Michael and Dennis Bootland
and is survived by sisters
Diana, Barbara, Margery,
Jane and Michaela.
A former soldier, landscaper and raconteur, known for his irascible impatience as well as his determination in following his own life-path, Jon was also kind, generous and a lover of good food. He was a fan of independent pubs, the Sex Pistols and David Bowie, a good book and the art of
Pablo Picasso.
An original has left us.
Remember him as he lived,
not as he died.

Jonathan and I were close neighbours and became good friends. Together we shared the burial of his dear car, Shadow, in my garden, in the rain. Jonathan gave me much help over the years, and I'll always remember, when I was moving, how he worked with me till 11 o'clock at night getting boxes packed up. Bless you Jon. Miss you, Raphaela x
