James Kemp Obituary


James (Jim) Harry in his 101st year of Ballakelly, Quines Hill, Port Soderick passed away peacefully on Monday 22nd September 2025 at Springfield Grange Nursing Home surrounded by family and friends. Husband of the late Edith Marion Kemp (nee Ellison) who passed away on the 4th July 1984, sorely missed. Dearly loved father of Nigel Paul Kemp and Kerry James Kemp, daughter-in-law Paula Kemp, grandfather of Paul, Mark, Neil, Jamie and Jessica, great grandfather to Lucy, Lily, James, Callum, Josh, Joseph, Jack and Alisha. He will be sadly missed by his brother-in-law, former sister-in-laws Dorothy, Eileen, and Olga, nephews, nieces, great nephews and nieces, many friends and family. Son of the late Henry (Harry) Kemp MM and late Edith Rose Kemp and brother of the late June, Pat, Betty and Peg. Former Captain in The East Yorkshire Regiment, Sub Divisional Offices Isle of Man Special Constabulary, Divisional Officer St John Ambulance and best known as the manager of the radio and tv department of the Manx Co Operative Society and Pension Fund, Member of the National Malaya and Borneo Veterans Association and the Isle of Man Royal Artillery Association. Grateful thanks to A&E, Ward 1 and Ward 6 of Nobles Hospital together with Springfield Grange Nursing Home all of whom looked after Jim and provided exceptional nursing care together with Peter Whittaker, a close friend and former colleague. The funeral service will take place at 10.30am on Friday 10th October at Kirk Braddan Parish Church followed by family cremation at Douglas Borough Crematorium (Bright and colourful clothing welcomed). Family flowers only please, donations in lieu of flowers if so desired may be made to Knockaloe Centre WWI Interment Visitor Centre, Patrick Old School, Patrick Corner, Patrick Village, near Peel, Isle of Man, IM5 3AL.
