for Mildred Chalmers

21st March 2019. So very sad to have been informed today of the death of Mrs Mildred Chalmers. May she rest in eternal peace.
We first met approximately 22 years ago upon moving in to our newly purchased home opposite hers, and after which she quickly became the friendly neighbour whom would always help answer our many questions about our new neighbourhood. In fact, we soon grew to enjoy our lengthy conversations and learnt much about the history of the area and of her own interesting life. She would also take an interest in our families too, politely enquiring until shortly before her death about our family members in Egypt. The last time we visited Mrs Chalmers, just a few short weeks ago, we recalled her birthday a few years earlier when the three of us had driven in a beautifully sunny day in an open top car along Morecambe promenade before enjoying a cream tea at The Midland Hotel. How we'd so enjoyed that time together and how we hoped to repeat it. Sadly, it wasn't to be. Thank you, Mrs Chalmers, for the smiles, the chats...and for your friendship. Rest now in eternal peace.
