Eveline Wakely Obituary
Wakely
Eveline
(née Snoxell)
15 July 1940 –
8 February 2026
Eveline passed away peacefully at home in Stoke Hammond, surrounded by her close family, after a brave
battle with Parkinson's and Dementia.
She was 85 years old.
Born in Stewkley and raised in
Drayton Parslow, Eveline grew up on the family farm, "Broadways,"
where she worked tirelessly
alongside her strict, hardworking,
and devoted father.
She lovingly cared for her own pedigree Saddleback pigs and developed the strong work ethic, resilience, and determination that would shape the rest of her life.
Farm life gave her a hardy character and an unwavering desire to better herself and those around her.
After marrying and settling in Bletchley, she welcomed her two beloved children, Tanith and Roger.
Drawing on her own strong upbringing, Eveline was determined
to give her children every
opportunity she could.
She immersed them in
activities and experiences —
Scouts and Guides, swimming and diving, life saving and synchronised swimming, horse riding, camping and caravanning holidays, and
sunny adventures abroad.
She created a childhood rich in opportunity, teaching them the strength, skills, and confidence
to face life's ups and downs.
And what a remarkable job she did.
In the early 1970s, the family
moved to Luton, where Eveline
worked at Tesco and later for the Health & Safety Executive.
In 1986, she returned to
Stoke Hammond to be closer to her
ageing parents, Arthur and Hilda Snoxell. Ever hardworking,
she continued her role at the
Health & Safety Executive while also maintaining a flock of 120 sheep. Alongside this, she found joy in gardening and was an active and valued member of the WI, always keeping busy and always giving her best.
Eveline leaves behind her loving children Tanith and Roger, her cherished grandchildren
Siobhan and Jay, and her precious great-grandchildren Megan and Alfie.
She was strong, devoted, practical,
and endlessly loving.
A woman of grit and grace.
They don't make them like that anymore.
All our love, always.
Rest in peace, Eveline.
